Message from the President - Ron Williams

Ron Williams

WOW! Where has this year gone? Not only did 2007 come in a hurry, it quickly left in a flash.

2008 brings new direction for our Council as we execute and implement results from our January 2008 Strategic Planning Session. The Board elected a new 2008 - 2009 Board Executive Committee. Several new Board Members were also added. We also have a new 2008 - 2009 Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC) Executive Team. We anxiously look forward to strengthening our business partnerships in the Arizona communities. As 2007 was zooming by we were busy planning for 2008. Even though the hustle and bustle of the holiday season was upon us, we knew that we n eeded to charge forward.

But, first let me please thank all of you who participate and continue to support our great organization. Our Corporate and Board Members have stepped up to the plate in a big way! Our Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC) is implementing great plans for this year. We continue to give special thanks to Luke and Gail Holton at Desert Sky Software, 2005 President's Award Winner, who continue to provide tremendous support by hosting and providing valuable resources for our website. We also appreciate Mr. Anthony Wells, President of Reliable Networks & PC Solutions, 2006 President's Award Winner, for his ongoing continued support of our office IT needs; often on weekends and late evenings. And, I would be remise if I did not thank Rosval Patterson, Principal of the law firm Principal of Patterson & Associates PLLC, 2006 Chairman's Award and 2006 MBE Advocate of the Year, for their tremendous legal support over the last four (4) years. As we anticipate the roll-out of our new system from our National Support, we know that the on-line registration for events, as well as up-to-date feedback on activities and events to include photos of participants, are just some of the changes that will bring value to our delivery of services to our constituents.

Along with our with new initiatives and the addition of over 36 New Corporate and Government Members since I became President and Chief Executive Officer in 2004; as well as a record number of new certified MBEs, we were able to meet and exceed our goals year after year since I've come aboard. With the addition of our new TEAMS (Total Economic Access for Minority Suppliers) Initiative, and the most recent statewide research that supports the new program, I believe we will be able to reach greater heights in delivery of our services throughout the state.

We continue to see new corporations that are looking to join us because they are beginning to see the value of our organization as well as what our MBEs bring to the table. As we advocate for our existing certified MBEs, we are beginning to see a whole new breed of very successful MBEs that are excited about being certified with us and getting on board with the new changes. We are actively seeking successful MBEs. These "new breed" of progressive MBEs truly understand that we are part of a National Organization, the National Minority Supplier Development Council. We will look to our seasoned MBEs to mentor and provide support for some of our newer MBEs.

Participation and attendance at our exciting METRO Quarterly Networking events has been extended to potential new corporate members and new minority businesses with the potential qualifications to be certified by our Council. So if you are not currently certified by our council, you will want to promptly submit your certification application so that you can take advantage of these great opportunities. For corporate membership or minority business certification information, please contact us at (602) 495-9950. We look f orward to serving you!

Dedicated to Excellence,

Ron Williams
