Richard Thomas, CHAOS SUPPLIES stated, "The MBEs that did not come really missed out. Being one of the original MBEs certified by the Council over 16 years ago, it's good to be back and actively involved. I just wish more MBES were there to hear David Steward speak; and the information presented was valuable and relevant". Many lucky attendees were provided a copy of David's Book, "Doing Business by the Good Book! MBEs! The MBEIC Industry Group Initiative Gets Implemented!The Council is implementing its new MBEIC Industry Group Initiative that was launched last year. The infrastructure is place, and the new MBEIC Leadership Team is moving forward! *More Good News!All MBEs that have already registered for the MBEIC Industry Groups will be extended through the end of December 2010. We want to ensure that those MBEs that have already registered get the full benefit of getting involved. - Stay Tuned for updates and next steps!) Where Stimulus Money is Going by StateWe will continue to share information on where the stimulus money is going between new spending, aid to states and tax cuts. You can click on the following link below for Arizona Projects. You can also go to StimulusWatch.org for projects throughout the US, which specify within each state where the money is likely to go on a project basis. This information is very important for MBEs and others who want to participate in the stimulus package. MBEs will have to be aggressive and make their opportunities on the basis of the quality and competitiveness of their work and strengthen their political relationships with at the state and local level.
Grand Canyon Minority Supplier Development Council (GCMSDC)
GCMSDC was established in 1993 as a private-sector non-profit organization, and received its affiliation with the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDC) in 1994.
GCMSDC is the "pre-eminent" Arizona regional organization of corporations and MBEs which provides increased procurement and business opportunities for minority businesses of all sizes. We are the Arizona regional affiliate of the National Minority Supplier Development Council. In addition to providing on-going services and acting as a resource center for minority businesses, the GCMSDC can provide access to capital through its participation in the Business Consortium Fund, Inc. Currently, the Council is comprised of Local and National Corporate & Government Members; as well as nationally certified MBEs who are a strong presence in Arizona. The Council is governed by a 24 member Board of Directors. For interest in serving on the Board of Directors, contact the President/CEO Ron Williams at the Council office.
